    Default anyone ever experience vertigo?

I think I have been having short episodes of vertigo. It wakes me up from sleep and it feels like my eyes are darting around so fast I can't see straight. I didn't kbow it was possible to be that dizzy. It sucks because it can make me very n*. Does anyone have any tips on what to do or how to make it go away?

This is only WebMD, but it seems an easy enough exercise to try at home.

Meclizine the active ingredient in dramamine will help with bouts of vertigo.. My mother and sister both get it and when they do they have found it helps.... good luck honey

I've noticed since my anxiety has got worse, I have these really random dizzy episodes where I'll just be sitting reading a book or watching TV and it's as though the room suddenly spins at 100mph!! It literally lasts about 3 seconds but it really shakes me up. I'd be interested to hear if other people get this or it's just me being a fruit loop as usual

Yes, dizziness/vertigo can be very scary!! I have had 2 bouts with this from a cold that went into my inner ear and caused labyrinthitis. I was dizzy for weeks! Awful, nauseating, scary. And the worst part is that there isn't much you can do about it, besides taking the dramamine/meclizine, which tires you out. Olschesky, who is on this board, also has experience with this. If it gets any worse, make an appointment with an ENT doc (ear nose throat)...good luck!

I get vertigo anytime my allergies are too bad. Similar to dramamine, you can take Benadryl. If it is allergy related this helps in many ways. I also take Chlor Trimeton (which also helps with vertigo if it's related to allergies). If I take the Chlor Trimeton I can keep the vertigo from hitting. When it does start to hit, I will usually take a benadryl, and an advil cold and sinus (to clear the congestion that messes with my equilibrium). Typically that knocks it out in a day or less.

I get vertigo too sometimes. I never feel n* though. I try to lay in a almost upright position in bed or the couch with lots of pillows and cannot move too quickly. I have taken Dramamine and it does help me some! Feel better

This exact thing happens to me too. Ive googled everything i could to find out what the heck is wrong with me. Some say its anxiety related. Other things said its some kind of "brain zap" thing, idk what thats supposed to mean. But its really SCARY!!! (

I get vertigo when my allergies are bad, too... Does something to my sinuses, hence inner ear problems. The worst, though, was coming off of antidepressants...meclizine (less-drowsy Dramamine) helped so much. I get n* mostly because it makes me panic... I get nervous that I WILL get n*, so of course... I do :/ Have never v* from it though.
My mom and great grandmother, however, both have (well, my great-grandmother had before she passed away) vertigo. I assume inner ear- something, but my mom swears hers are food-allergy related. Even as a child I remember my mom's "dizzy head" attacks. She told me much later, that they caused panic attacks in her, too. She always had prescription meclizine and would just take one and go to bed to sleep it off.

My left ear is scarred and permanently damaged from a horrible infection I got that almost wiped out my eardrum (curse you ocean bacteria). I wonder if that's what's causing it.
