Default Anyone out there?? Need help!!!!

Am really freaking out!! Just gagged three times but nothing came out. And feel sort of like I have to poop but I'm scared to go into the bathroom. My sister and my nephew both have noro--they came down with it this morning (Sunday) but I spent Friday night with them--used their bathroom, ate from a shared pickle dish as my nephew, hugged and cuddled and kissed my nephew, etc. I'm certain I have caught it and I'm TERRIFIED. What can I do? I woke up in the middle of the night tonight and got so scared because I know that's how these things often start (middle of the night). Then I felt a sudden twinge in my throat and I let myself gag--it happened 3 times. Now just waiting and shaking. I bought a bottle of "Nausea Control" and I might also have some Nausene tablets somewhere--should I take some? I took some Klonopin to fall asleep so I don't want to take too many drugs....
I'm also sitting with a cold cloth on my stomach and the back of my neck bc I've heard that helps.
    THANK YOU!!!!

Hey Bernadine, I hope you're doing okay. I'm really sorry but I can't tell you that you HAVEN'T got noro because I just don't know. The only advice I can offer you is to stay calm, relax, do something to occupy your mind like read a book or watch a film. Sip some water or maybe some ginger ale if you have any? This could potentially be anxiety as you were worrying about getting it anyway. If you need to go to the toilet then go, holding it in will only make you feel worse, you may just need a BM and you'll start to feel better!

How do you feel in yourself? Do you have any other symptoms?

Please let us know how you're doing. We're all here for you. x

Thank you! So far I've felt OK, still very much on edge, though. And this morning (Monday), I was EXTREMELY dizzy. Do you know if noro can start that way? I think it MIGHT be that I haven't been eating much these past couple of days (because I'm scared of getting s*) and I only had a small cup of oatmeal for breakfast. I just feel like I'm constantly on pins and needles and waiting for the illness to strike. I wish I wasn't so scared.
Thank you for understanding and listening.
Is it true that if 72 hours have passed since you've been with carriers of the illness that you're pretty much clear? Or can it happen after? I feel like it can come at any time. Also, of course, I could have picked it up elsewhere. I wish there was a vaccine.

Do you think it could have been anxiety-related since you just found out your sister and nephew were sick? Since you haven't v* by now, I would assume you're ok. I have high hopes for the vaccine! Hopefully in a few years! I'll stand in line for hours if I need to

It's been more than 72 hours but I'm still very worried. And tonight after having dinner around 8 I'm still feeling very full (it's now almost 2 am). I've read in many places that this "full" feeling proceeds v*. So now I'm terrified and afraid to go to sleep. I feel like any minute I'm going to be stricken with horrible stomach pains and know IT is going to happen. what can I do? Feel so scared and at my wits' end.

You said you haven't eaten much the last few days because of your worry, but tonight you ate dinner, so your stomach is more than likely just getting used to having food in it again. It does not take long for a stomach to decrease in size after periods of not eating, even just a day or two can do it, so it is just being re-stretched. That full feeling is the same feeling you get when you have eaten too much because the stomach has reached its capacity and then some. It is the same here, it shrunk a little and you filled it up with dinner, so it will take a little longer to digest it.

You said it has been over 72 hours since you were possibly exposed, by this time if you did have IT you would have shown symptoms already. They say between 12- 72 hours after exposure before symptoms show, but it is normally much sooner than that, like 48 hours at the most. I would say you are completely fine. You really must try to sleep, give your body a chance to relax and digest your dinner. You should then wake up feeling as right as rain. I am not sure if it works for you or not, but maybe try putting on some relaxing music to help you sleep. I like the sounds of the waves and things like that. I find those very relaxing and will always help me to drift off.
