Default I hate when something actually reinforces my emet!!

Months ago we went to Bob Evans, me, the 3 kids, and my parents. Boys always get pancakes and chocolate milk. Oldest overdid it and ended up Ving a little while there. I really don't like to go out to eat much anyway, makes me too anxious with the kids, enjoy it with just the hubby on a good day though. Today my parents watched my kids while I went to an appointment. They wanted to go out to lunch afterwards, I was hoping to pick up something drive thru but everyone wanted to go out, to Bob Evans, of course. We went there and I was already feeling a little off from an ADHD test I had to do this morning, and we all just got over fevers and sore throats, my oldest was the sickest. Of course he ordered pancakes and chocolate milk. And of course he again overdid it and V a little. Why!?!?!? I told him on the way home that he needs to find other things on the menu he likes and he needs to order water instead of chocolate milk from now on. Anyway, I am already on edge, I have had little panic attacks regularly since we reserved a cabin we are traveling 8 hours to on Sunday, and I am so worried about how we will all do on vacation, plus just getting over the fevers. I try to hard to not let past emet experiences cloud the present, so I went out to eat today, the same things happening AGAIN wasn't supposed to happen! Thankfully I am not anxious right now, but I am angry, not sure at what, maybe my parents for wanting to go, or maybe my son for letting it happen again. I mean, don't you know before taking that one bite too many? And, he shows tendency to be emet at some point anyway. Thanks for anyone who listened to my vent!

I totally feel you! Last weekend we went to a nice restaurant and when I walked into the restroom to wash my hands, the manager was in there cleaning what looked to be v* out of the sink! Needless to say we left. This weekend I was feeling like I wanted to try again to go to that restaurant as I am TRYING to conquer my fears. I walk into the same restroom to wash my hands before dinner and someone's in there commenting about how someone else is in a stall next door v*!!! I couldn't believe it. We left and I told my fiance, "well, I tried! I'm done trying to eat there!" Ugh! *hugs*

Sorry, wanted to reply earlier, but was on vacation, went so much better than I expected!

That restaurant would be off my list of possibilities to eat ever! Yuck! Sorry, that has to be hard on your anxiety.

I had my own experience while on vacation. My oldest can tend to obsess, have anxiety, etc. After that incident at Bob Evans on Thursday he did good. Then again on vacation at the restaurant he was eating too much, got one mouthful too many, and had to spit it out, then several times at our cabin. It got to where he wasn't able to eat a full meal and every meal ended like that! He needs to figure out what is going on, think a lot of it is mental. Since we came home late last night he has been able to eat cereal, donut, some hot dog for lunch but not all, and a taco for dinner, without any problems. I am just praying about it and not saying anything to him, or it will start again, I am sure. I am not entirely sure what he thinks will happen if he does swallow that bite, V I think, he just doesn't think he can swallow. And I am not sure if that bite is just too big or his tummy is too full. Need to figure it all out quickly before school starts!

How old is your son that keeps getting ill? You might talk to his doc about it he could have some acid reflux going on.

He will be 9 shortly. I might go to the doctor, keeping an eye on it to see if it is a physical issue or a mental one. I do know the mental aspect makes it worse so trying to talk about how to handle it or what he is feeling at the time kind of backfires. I have been telling him smaller bites, chew well, napkin is discrete way to spit out food if he needs to (worked well at grandma's house). I am worried because he is skinny, stops eating if that happens, and I don't want him to lose weight. Could be worse with bread things, keeping an eye on that too.

Taking him to the doc is probably a good idea then. Is he hungry all the time or anythig like that?
