Default Anyone there to talk? :(

I am feeling extremely sick and terrified at the moment, I could really do with talking to someone who understands! Is anyone there?

Ok, how about we try and focus on something else other than ya nausea - would it help to talk about something else? Also try this, breathe in and think calm, breathe out and think relax...sounds daft but it works....what has brought this on tonight? Xxx

Anytime, are you feeling less nauseous now? I'm pretty new here. I've had emets for over 20 years and for a long time I was able to go about my life worry free but the last 4 months have been a nightmare and it's come back with a vengeance. I think the site is really helpful and gives you a much better understanding of it all. Xxx

Keep taking the deep breaths and try to breathe in through your nose and out thru the mouth... It is supposed to have a calming effect.....I find sitting up helps too....and watch something on tv...(I know bit difficult whilst ya talking to me!) but it helps to concentrate on something other than the obvious.....the more u think about it the more your body will react and panic ....I find pacing around the room helps sometimes if sitting up doesn't.... Xxx I am seeing a specialist at the hospital in 10 days so at least Im heading in the right direction...I had CBT years ago but I hope it's come on since then...

Try a cold wet flannel on the back of your neck. Im so sorry you are feeling like this. I know how horrible & scary this is. Has anything happened that could have triggered this?

Sorry having to post like this as it doesn't like long posts..... I'm seeing a specialist in 10 days so at least I'm heading in the right direction, I had CBT years ago and I just hope that has come on since then as I had it when I was 17 and that was awful....

How are you feeling now ? Just a quick word of advice.. With chewing gum .. Chewing gum won't make you feel better, in fact it will probably do the opposite ! Chewing gum causes excess gas .. Excess gas causes bloating, stomach cramps and n* although it is a good distraction technique it won't ease n* ... it's mint you need ! This is a common mistake people make thinking the mint in it will settle you ... The mint in chewing gum is artificial !
When I don't have any mints in the house, I know it sounds gross but we have toothpaste that is made with natural mint, I put a lil on my tongue and have a glass of ice cold water, always does the trick for me !
Do you think this could be anxiety n* or do you have other symptoms ?

I may try a cold flannel thank you for the suggestion! And Hannah i'm still feeling so terrible, really sick! Really? I'll have to start buying mints instead of chewing gum then thank you! I do tend to feel sick from anxiety quite a lot and I have had times where it has been unbearable so I suppose it could be that, considering I am so ridiculously hygienic I don't know what I could possible have picked up! No other symptoms yet, I've been feeling like this for over 2 hours, surely it would have happened by now?

The problem with anxiety and emet is it's a vicious circle, you feel n* so you become anxious which causes n* .... And so the circle begins ! I think 2 hours later you will be fine, if you have no other symptoms, no temperature then you will be ok! Sv*s strike suddenly so if you had picked something up you'd be showing other symptoms by now ! Try and distract yourself, put on a movie or get a book out! Distraction is the best technique !!

Lay down in a nice hot bath. That's probably what helps me the most!
