Default New person looking for advice.

I'm quite new to this, but I'm deffo emet. (And my mum has finally recognised it) is there anyone here who's never been sick since childhood, let's say,? I'm super paranoid. Like everyone else I suppose. I've even asked my little sister to update me on her trips to the loo esp when she says she has a sore tummy. It calms me?. How weird. Does having a strong immune system help yeah? I love all my healthy foods (fruit, veg, ect) and my immune system is pretty strong thank god! Another question, and I'll make it my last for now, what tricks and tips do you use to calm yourself down?.. It can take me hours, sometimes overnight, rarely days, to calm down when someone has told me they had/family member has had NV/V*d.

I haven't been sick from an SV since I was a kid but I have V from medication. I'm not sure that a strong immune system helps with noro but good hygiene will. Just wash your hands when you get home and anytime your going to eat. If I'm not too N, peppermint tea helps to calm me, otherwise I just have to lay still, breath, and tell myself it's not going to happen

I'm 29 and I've only been sick with v* once since I was a kid, and it was because of tainted alcohol (and not overdrinking, I'm careful about that due to emet). I did have dry heaves a few times though, once for no reason I can fathom (maybe food poisoning) and a few other times because of migraines or the such. There was a post by a lady in another thread who hasn't v* in 50 years, so it's quite doable. As for the immune system, no, it won't really make a difference. sv* affect everyone equally, the only difference is that someone very healthy will probably get better faster, whereas someone with a poor immune system could get more severely ill as they are already weak, putting them at risk of complications. But it won't prevent someone healthy from catching it and having v* and/or d*.

My tricks for calming down are reading (any kind of reading material will do) and putting pressure on nausea relief pressure points. Also, oddly enough, writing on this forum helps, because I can be rational when dealing with the fears of others, even when I know I am being irrational about mine, and it calms me to reassure others. That will usually get me through the worse when I feel nauseous and I am really afraid of v*. There is no need to be paranoid, educate yourself on the real risks so you'll know what really presents a risk of infection or not, instead of worrying for nothing. For example, if someone tells you they have been ill, the virus isn't going to jump on you and make you sick, so there's no need to worry. Wash your hands before eating, and don't put your hands on your face/mouth unless you washed them. Learn how to wash them properly, and you'll be fine.

A few questions, what do you mean by tainted alcohol? I don't remember if I v* but I deffinetly dry heaved a few times after having A DRINK one night. I assumed it was from not eating but looking back it was very weird, I never drink to much and always stop when I start to feel tipsy but I took a few drinks and don't remember anything til a few hrs later when I was laying in my bathroom.
Secondly I'm 26 and haven't had a SV since I was in 2nd or 3rd grade and never freaked out about it much unless someone was sick but the last two years I've been worried that my time is up? Does this happen to you? If not how do you keep calm?

I also find that writing on here helps to calm me down.

I have only v* 4 times, and I'm 34. When I'm scared, I read and talk on here, it helps a lot having people with the same feelings to talk to
