    Default OT: Seroquel and ciralopram

Hey everyone. Was wondering if anyone has ever been prescribed these medicines for anxiety, depression, whatever.
I have VERY low dosage of them both but I am scared to death of starting a new medicine incase of side effects.
I am thinking of starting the seroquel tonight.. but am hoping to get some perspective.
    THANKS!

Seroquel has been a godsend for me. I am on 100 mg but I was started out on 50. It puts me to sleep like a baby and regulates my anxiety throughout the next day. I am on Seroquel XR, I don't know if you're on a different one but XR is amazing. I take it in conbination with an SSRI and it really does help. As far as your SSRI goes, you may have some side effects but they will resolve once your body adjusts to the medication (2 weeks approx.)

Seroquel is also a godsend for me! Without it I wouldn't be able to sleep a full night.

Now I've gotten started at 25 mg. because How I said I was afraid of a side effect being nausea or vomitting. I can deal with anything else, but that. haha. So no upset stomachs or anything? Also the citalopram (is celexa) an SSRI. Ive been on them before, but I'm worried about that one too. However Im planning to take my first seroquil tonight. Im just praying theres no side effects

Also, are you able to take saroquil on an empty stomach? I plan to take it around 8-9 at night and don't like to eat anything after 6-7.

I've never got one bad side effect and I've been taking it for 7 years. And I've taken it on empty stomachs tons of times and has been fine.

Not sure if this will help or not, but I always refer to askapatient.com for all medications. It's a big help for me.

Im sitting here waiting to take it , but I'm still scared. I don't want it to make me nauseous or anything. And I'm also afraid what if i miss a dose, or withdrawal from it. I hear that is bad with this.

I took it. I feel like that has to be an accomplishment! Hopefully nothing bad happens.

I took the celexa for a year and a half. I just pretty much lost my appetite for the first few weeks. I ended up losing about 20 pounds which wasn't a bad thing. Lol. It worked pretty well until I just up and decided I didn't need it anymore and quit taking it (with docs instructions for tapering to avoid withdrawal). Never taken the other med.

Here's the thing my psychiatrist told me about Seroquel. Let's say you want to fall asleep around 10pm. You'd take the Seroquel at 7pm, and you'd need to sleep at 10 because of how sleepy it makes you. But the calming effect happens within 30 minutes.

So there's a 3 hour waiting period until it makes you fall asleep. I can't take it on an empty stomach because it makes me fall asleep right away, but this is not the case for everyone.

I take it and the only drawback is that I need to be in bed and not expected to converse with anyone because (as my husband has told me) I become zoned out and have strange conversations. :-/
