Need some help today...

Another co worker supposedly has the noro and took a sick day off of work today. I'm nervous....what a surprise.

When I go into work I use a 10 to 1 bleach solution and spray every surface I can think about. And of course wash my hands before I eat and really any time I think i'm going to touch my face.

I'm freaking out about going to work....am I worrying to much....how do I get past this.

First of all, remember that when someone in the office says that they have a virus OFTEN others follow suit. Whether or NOT they are actually ill. It's an easy way to get out of work and NOBODY is going to question it.

That being said, if someone else is sick, so what? That has NOTHING to do with YOU! The idea that sv* germs are crawling on every surface is totally in your mind. You went overboard with the spraying, but not that you've done so you are pretty much guaranteed that you aren't catching it. The ONLY spot that I think you should be 'somewhat' concerned about is the bathroom, but I am 100% SURE you've already cleaned it. Am I right? With as worked up as you are I think you can go to work confidently knowing that you aren't putting your hands in your mouth.

Go to work, let go of the anxiety. Everything is going to be FINE!!!!

I agree. you are fine. even if the person was sick at work, all you need is to wipe it down/apray and wash your hands. not too crazy

Thank you syrup, you really helped me today. The girl was never sick here, that I know of, it was of course the most beautiful day and she just had the weekend off and she has a history of taking sick days off for not being sick. She hasn't been to work for the past 3 days, so i'm more worried about returning to work after my couple of days off and knowing that "it" is possibly around. I'm ok right now, still a little nervous, about a 4 out of a 10. Which was better then when I found out she took the day of today last night. I just wish I could get over this. Ever since I found this group, it has given me a second chance in finding peace. I just started to see a physcologizt and we will see how that goes. Thanks again!

The idea that sv* germs are crawling on every surface is totally in your mind.

I blame the media for this one. I never used to worry about the whole germs floating in the air thing until the news started claiming that sv* are airborne and "linger on surfaces for WEEKS!" and all it takes is for one microscopic particulate of v* to land on surface and then five weeks later you touch it and then eat some potato chips and then you're doomed! But you're definitely right. Hygiene is your protection.
