Never had anesthesia myself, but this is a fear for me too. I always assumed it was the narcotic pain meds that caused nausea rather than the anesthesia itself? (Plus riding in a car is terribly nauseating on opiates. This is when a lot of the sickness takes place in my experience). My mom and sister both had surgery and avoided illness with anti-nausea meds. Mom got scopolamine/promethazine and sis got Zofran. Both worked like a charm. The car ride home was the only problematic bit, but even that didn't result in V*. Make a point to tell the doctor your concerns about nausea so they'll dose you up on anti-emetics.
The anesthesia itself knocks you out so you don't remember anything. You'll probably wonder why you got so worked up because it will all seem like a deep sleep after the fact!![]()
