    Default Do I have Gastritis?

    Hey everybody,

Every so often I get short, sharp pains to my left of my abdomen, next to my belly button. I feel nauseous too, but I don't and haven't vomited (touch wood I don't) I feel full up after eating, and not eating enough. I don't really have a good diet, just safe foods like crackers, sweets and junk. I smoke too ( around 6 a day ) but I don't drink alchohol (I would never) and spicy, hot foods.

    Any ideas?

I have never been diagnosed with any sort of stomach issue... but I get pains in my stomach after I eat, or even if I am hungry. I think its digestion half the time and some other times its cause Im hungry... I eat a good diet most of the time and that happens to me.
If you try and tell me a phobia is unreal. I dare you to live a day, and feel what I have to feel.

If it's around your belly button, much more likely to be an ulcer. You could have it, but unlikely. I had a friend with it and she was very ill 24/7 (including v*). If you do suspect having it, try taking some licorice root supplements. They help coat the stomach lining, easing symptoms and promoting healing.

I eat like you and I get that pain and I am going to be honest it is from a crappy diet. I eat almost all carbs and sweets and salty stuff and it is honestly that. I eat a banana every once in a while and I feel amazing for 24 hours...too bad I hate fruit. And veggies.

I have had gastritis before and it didnt feel like that not that it couldn't, but it was more in between my ribs and to the left. I guess most people who have gastritis dont know they have it though there are no symptoms. I get the pains you are talking about from IBS. Smoking can also cause that if you are not getting enough fluids in a day since cigarettes dry out your colon and that is where your pain is coming from. I am only speaking from experience, what you describe is a feeling I have started to get used to especially when I smoke more than usual or do not drink enough or eat poorly.

I've had gastritis 3 times in my life and it never felt like that and wasn't in that area. I actually was in my upper abdomen.
