    Default Roommate is sick...

    Hey guys,

I just found out my roommate has been throwing up all night, he said he caught it from his coworker. Fortunately I don't share a bathroom with him, but I'm worried about where all the germs will end up...I'm kinda freaking out right now and don't really know what to do!!

Any suggestions and support is greatly appreciated!!!

Just keep yourself separate and cleaned. Encourage him to clean up after himself with a good cleaner. You should be okay
If you try and tell me a phobia is unreal. I dare you to live a day, and feel what I have to feel.

As long as he was sick in his bathroom you should be fine. Just don't let him handle your food for a few days. You can bleach the door handles and remotes if it makes you feel better.

Bleach everything you can, wash your hands a lot and try not to touch your face. If he is understanding you can ask him to clean his bathroom etc so it doesn't spread and just try to not have a lot of direct contact with him for a few more days. I just recently went through the same thing with my boyfriend. He got sick and of course with him being my boyfriend I had been in very close contact with him and sharing food. But thank god I disinfected a lot and kept my distance for a few day and I didn't get it. I know it's scary now and you're feeling a lot of stress. But just remember this to shall pass.

I stayed at my grandparents' house last night. I didn't get sick and to be honest I don't think I will...like you guys said, he was in his bathroom and he has stayed in his room the whole time he's been sick.

What concerns me is the lack of cleanliness. He's not a clean guy. Another roommate shares his bathroom and he's not notoriously clean either...you can imagine what's going through my head. I can't help but think there will be a little epidemic in my apartment. I know this other roommate has used the bathroom since the sick roommate was using it, and I know this other roommate has been touching things all over the kitchen. So I could have been "exposed" that way...

I dunno, I just really hope this is food poisoning and not noro. I don't think I've ever had noro. I only remember throwing up a couple times as a kid and generally I had the flu (body aches, fever, etc). So I don't know what to expect or anything and I'm just super freaked out...

Update...not sick yet, but my stomach is pretty weird right now. I'm hoping it's the anxiety...I imagine if it were a virus I'd be pretty sick by now instead of just having butterflies for a few hours. Though I've heard that nausea can feel like butterflies...?!!

Anyways, I was thinking about when I could have been exposed and I assume if he was sick all night Sunday then my other roommate could have touched the toilet handle and touched the front door before I did Monday morning. So I guess it's been 30-36 hours since I've been "exposed." I'm still flipping out...I REALLY don't wanna catch anything!!!

Also, I may be able to move units. I am done with school in 4-5 weeks and I'm wondering if you guys think it's worthwhile to move units?
