    Default Antibiotics Side Effects

Hi, so I'm new to this and not really sure what I'm doing so bear with me haha! I didn't even know this phobia had a name let alone a society! It makes me feel very reassured to know that there are other people out there going through the same thing

I was just wondering if anybody had any advice about dealing with possible side effects of antibiotics. I got given Co-Amoxiclav yesterday for a recurring UTI infection but I am afraid to take it because of the fear it will make me ill. I really want to get rid of the pain that comes with my infection but I'd rather push through it than face any side effects. I had previously taken Trimethoprim and didn't suffer any side effects. I found it difficult to do because of my phobia but I took them eventually which I am proud of, I'm just scared to do the same again.

    Thanks

Don't be afraid. I just finished my triple therapy for H.pylori the other day (3 medications twice a day, 2 of them antibiotics! so that's realy hard for stomach) and I never got sick. Well, I was n*, but I made it through. And the n* was because I had to take 2 antibiotics.. You should also take probiotics and you'll be fine

def take it. a UTI untreated can turn into much more serious kidney infection and that is very dangerous. antibiotics usually mess with your gut bacteria, so you may get an upset stomach and looser poos. Nothing to worry about. for me, I am ok the first day, funny poos on the 2nd day and until I end. I just eat more bland and it gets better.

Antibiotics are no fun but its really important to take them. I've taken a variety of them, some have no effect on me at all, some make me tired and poopy but none have ever made me throw up. Its important to keep the good bacteria in check with probiotics, you'll feel a lot better if you do.

These are the 3rd lot of medication I have been given for it. The 1st (nitrofurantoin) made me feel very ill and had an upset stomach so I immediately stopped taking so I think I've got it into my head that I will always get the same symptoms as silly as it sounds! I'd defiantly rather feel rubbish for a week than it developing into something worse

    Thanks!
