Thread: help?

  1. #1

    Default help?

In addition to emetophobia i have a fear of being sick in general. For the past 30 hours or so Ive been dealing with a weird cold. Usually colds dont freak me out, as long as I know they're not turning into something worse. Anyway, Ive just had a headache, and tender lymph nodes under my neck and an overall feeling of congestion in my nose. But now I cant sleep because I'm starting to feel a little achy and im freaking out that I could have a fever and this could be turning into the flu.

but its not right? the flu wouldnt come on AFTER over 24 hours of mild symptoms? Im not feeling THAT bad, just head and neck achiness mostly. maybe a little arms. and maybe a little throat nausea but probably from anxiety. im too scared to take my temperature.

aside from this im anxious because my parents (who are my rock and go-to reassurance) are out of the country and with limited cellphone access for another week. i cant imagine the thought of being really sick with out being able to talk to them any time.

    any reassurance?

Sometimes if I have a really bad cold i get achey and hot and just generally feel crappy - to me it feels half way between a cold and the flu. Hopefully this will pass in a couple of days. Feel better.

Well it's now been about 48 hours since onset of symptoms and it's all still pretty mild. I have an on and off headache and stuffy nose, but no other major symptoms. I have ZERO appetite all day, which makes me kinda nervous, but I'm assuming it's anxiety. I was up almost all night last night panicking which also wreaks havoc on my appetite. I'm hoping tomorrow it comes back and I feel a bit more normal.

Bottom line, though is I don't think it's the flu. Thank god.

No, it doesn't sound like flu - sounds rough though! Even if you dont have an appetite make sure you take in plenty of fluids, I'm sure you'll be feeling back to normal soon.
