Default Is this normal with norovirus? could be graphic

A colleague at work came down with suspected noro 12 days ago. I won't go into too much detail in case it upsets someone but the initial symptom was tremendous stomach pain which progressed relatively quickly and without warning to extreme v* and d* ( no time to get to the toilet!!! ). After 24 hours of v* and d* she was then totally wiped out and although she came into work yesterday and today (only for part of each day due to being very weak) she is still far from right. She said her stomach is still very tender which I suppose is from the v* but even so it has scared me to death. Is this normal for noro?

from what i have heard, noro can and often comes on fast. it does sound like she was hit hard but wow, 12 days and still not better? that seems extreme...usually it comes and goes fast. are you sure she doesn't have something else going on? that seems to be not noro.

WOW! I agree with Mdgirl, with Noro patients are expected to be well within 48 hours. 12 days?? She needs to be seen ASAP. That's not a stomach virus. Something much more serious could be going on.

Honestly that sounds like some serious food poisoning to me. That's wayyy long for a stomach bug.

Sometimes a bad case of noro can leave people lactose intolerant for a couple of weeks, she could be having stomach issues from that or she could have something else going on. When I had noro the sickness came on very quickly but I had an idea that I wasn't well hours before hand, I had a terrible headache, I felt very off, my stomach was making a lot of loud gurgling noises (not normal digestion gurgles) and I was very lethargic. The sickness lasted around six hours, the diarrhoea for about 4 then I slept and slept, I felt very weak and unwell the next day and didn't have a normal appetite for at least a week. She really shouldn't be at work and should go to her gp.

She is the type who is never ill and so this has really taken its toll on her. Like I said the v* and d* was very severe and it lasted approx 24-36 hours. Then she said she felt too exhausted to even get out of bed for several days. She has been able to eat very small amounts of food such as toast and dry biscuits and is on the road to recovery but it seems to have had a huge effect on her. So far her husband who had to clean up all the v* and d* hasn't come down with. She says her stomach is sore and tender but thinks its probably from all the v*.

I'm not going to lie.... I'm really anxious that I'm gonna get it. All week we've worked together closely, even sharing the mouse and keyboard at times.
