    Default When will this end??

My son was ill with a SV on Wednesday and my husband caught it on Friday. I've managed to stay healthy (thank goodness!!) but I am so exhausted with the constant hand-washing and being on high alert. And I know my husband will be contagious for another few days so that means my anxiety about catching the virus won't start to get better for at least that long. I just want life to return to normal and to stop obsessing constantly that I might be able to have my 'turn' with the bug. I hate how long these viruses are contagious for! I am so tired of thinking about this non-stop, all day and half the night. I want to know I won't catch it and be done with this already.

It's one of the worst things about being an emet for me. The anxiety of how long it will last, how many people in the family will catch it, ect. Usually for our family (we have 3 kids) if we have gone 48 hours without anyone getting sick, we are out of the woods. Hugs to you! I really feel your anxiety and worry!!

Well theoretically your husband could possibly be contagious for up to 72 hours - but only in his poo or sick - do you lick his poo? thought not! So basically, so long as he doesn't prepare any food for you, or put his unwashed fingers in your mouth or up your nose(!) then you can't catch it from him.

The only risk now is that the virus can survive for much longer (a few weeks i think) on surfaces. You don't need to go berserk bleaching the whole house but whatever room anyone has vomited in could do with a quick once over on commonly touched items like remote controls, light switches and door handles etc I'd be more thorough in the bathroom. 1 part bleach to 10 parts water or an anti-bacterial spray containing Benzalkonium Chloride will kill off anything nasty.

That wait after someone has been ill is hellish though so you do have my sympathies and I hope you dodge it x

I agree with everything above. If you've got 48 hours and haven't been ill that means (to me) that there are no 'contagious surfaces' in your home. As long as he washes his hands well after pooping there's NOTHING for you to catch. You're safe!

Our brains do such cruel things to us! I haven't touched food (only eating with spoon or fork) since this all stared. Anther couple days and I think I will feel a bit more safe to let my guard down. My hands are so red from being washed so much!
Thanks for the support! It's so helpful to not feel alone
