    Default Hairdresser ill; paranoid

First off, apologies if this is the wrong subforum.

So, my hairdresser was complaining of some sort of respiratory illness today at the shop. Fair enough, I thought - I can deal with a head cold. But it wasn't until a few minutes into the haircut that she had admitted to experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms (I would have postponed it had I'd known), and her daughter had been up all night v*ing. Meanwhile, she's doing her thing, handling my scalp with her bare hands and talking/exhaling in my direction. Naturally, I'm scared shitless (foreshadowing?) so I sanitize my hands straight after, head home, throw my clothes in the wash, and jump in the shower. Now, she did say that she had felt her worst yesterday, and I'm wondering if that has any effect on the contagiousness of the virus? And would that sort of contact normally be enough to transmit the virus? Thanks for any insight.

Well, first of all, I assume she washed your hair when you arrived. Hairdressers, honestly, are the people I NEVER worry about. Their hands are in soap and water ALL. DAY. LONG. so the risk is beyond slim of them passing on any gastro. sickness. Talking/exhaling can't give you Noro, it's 100% fecal oral, so in other words, you'd have had to eat her poop or v*, which in this scenario would have been impossible. There's really no way for you to have caught anything at all during your time with you. I know it's hard when your anxiety is trying to work you up, but it's all lies. You're completely safe.

Thanks for the reply. Needed that reassurance. Still in the back of my mind though, just hope I've washed my hands adequately today.

I second what syrup said. and if she could stand all day, I don't think it was noro. that's tough work even on a fully healthy day!
