Default Paranoid Question About SV Germs

I have an uber paranoid question that's plaguing my mind.

So, my aunt has a stomach bug. She doesn't live with me or near me though so I'm not all that concerned. But in 17 days, I'm going to visit her for 6 days. She's really not good with hand-washing, disinfecting, etc. Will there still be a risk for me? She says it's more "the other end" but I'm assuming she's been v*ing. Not sure, didn't ask, don't need to know, not going to play 21 Questions.

I'm just mostly concerned as when I return home, I have exams to write that I absolutely cannot miss. But I don't want to miss out on a visit just because I'm afraid of the minute chance that I may become infected, even though I've been full on exposed and absolutely fine.

She just messaged me saying, "I haven't even been sick, just poopey, achy, and fevery for 2 days." Which is actually odd for her as she's someone who will v*. Either way, I cannot afford to be sick as selfish as it sounds. I really need these exams to boost my marks up as I've missed a lot of school this term.

I would look this info up, but I don't want to be filled with a bunch of worrisome blabber and freak out. My gut instinct is that 17 days is absolutely fine, plus I'm good with hygiene. But my OCD/emet is thinking about the little things. Even though I work in a coffee shop with lots of little kids running around, and am likely exposed 10x more than I realize!

17 days is over 2 weeks out - I'm not 100% sure but I think I've heard the virus CAN shed up to 2 weeks after symptoms start through feces only. I think the chances of transmission then are still very small. But even then, you'll be there after the 2 week mark so I think you'll be fine. Just wash your hands like you would in any public place and I truly believe you will be fine!

I would feel comfortable staying there 17 days after symptoms, without practicing avoidance behaviors. 2 weeks is my comfort-zone for visiting a house after someone has had noro (if that's what it is). No need to worry about this one. Enjoy your visit!
