Well, at least with shrimp they are normally very well cooked. Mos of the farm raised stuff I see around here is from Indonesia or Thailand. I'm not sure if it's any better there. I don't think I'd be overly scared of this shrimp just since it will be thoroughly cooked and usually shrimp that is actually spoiled is really obviously off. It is true though that some foreign countries, especially China and SE Asia do not have nearly the regulations that we do here for food safety.
