Hi Yenn, yes Domperidone is available over the counter as Motilium 10 it costs about £4.50 ish for 10 tablets (they are tiny too)
It does have some long term side effects if you over do taking it. I was taking up to 12 a day when my emet was at its worst over the space of quite a few months and it totally messed up my menstrual cycle. Other than that and taking it responsibly, i have found it is a good anti emetic. As it moves food through your system quicker you can sometimes feel the muscles contracting in your tummy which feels a bit weird at first.
Hope that helps!
Does it cause diarhea or anything else in terms of side effects? I wouldn't normally resort to medication but the virus in our house atm has got me absolutely stressed to the max - it sounds like Norwalk

No it doesn't cause diarrhea or anything like that, or it didn't with me. I've just read the leaflet and here is what it says:
Possible side effects - Like all medicines, Motilium 10 can have side effects. The following side effects have occurred rarely: rise in the blood level of the hormone prolactin, possibly leading to sore or swollen breasts (even in men), fluid leaking from the nipples or a stop in menstrual periods.
The following side effects have occurred very rarely: uncontrolled movements of the eyes, face or neck, trembling and muscle stiffness, hives or skin rash. Stomach cramps of short duration have also been reported very rearely. If they keep happening for than a day, talk to your pharmacist or doctor.
Like i said before i was taking way too many of them (the maximum was 8 a day and i was taking 12) and that is why my periods stopped. I had no tummy cramps, just a weird muscle sensation that didn't last long but i knew that was ok because it was just the tabletspushing the food go through my system quicker.
As you wouldn't normally take medication I'd definately recommend them for you at the moment and as a short term measure to help get you through.
Sorry to ask so many questions, but why do they push the food through quicker?

Well that is how some of the anti emetics work, they stimulate the stomach to empty quicker so the food isn't in there long enough to come back up. Thefood doesn't stay in one place for too long while it is going through your digestive system.
Hope that helps
Thanks....so (assuming I'm not already ill by tomorrow) I'll be heading off down to Boots to pick some of those up!!!!

It's similar to reglan, only a bit safer. Unfortunately it's not available here in the US... I have to take reglan 4x a day, and wish motilium was available here!
