My son woke up today and he didnt want to eat any breakfast and I could tell he was not acting like his usual self. At first he said his tummy hurt. So I made him go lay down in his room. I went back there to check on him a few minutes later and then he said it was his head that hurt. I asked him if his tummy hurt anymore, and he said no. I asked him if he felt like he had to v*, and he said no. I took his temp. and it was 102. He said he felt like he had gooky stuff in his throat yesterday, but he doesnt sound like he has a cold. He also had a little d* yesterday. I dont know what is going on with him. I hate this. About a month ago, he complained of the same symptoms and he v*, twice, and then he was fine. My youngest daughter got it too, three days later. When I had took him to the doctor, the doc said his throat was all red and had white bumps on it, so they said it was tounsilitis.

Geez, I hate this ...............

Poor you, I've got ill people in the house at the moment too and I'm just terrified, I wish I could sleep for a fortnight to get it over with. How is your son feeling, are you going to take him to the doctor or see how he goes?

Jennyleigh - I really feel for you!! When kids are little, it is a guessing game as to what is wrong with them. My kids are only now starting to be able to decipher accurately what they are feeling physically and to tell me. I HATE it too!!My kids' appetite is always off with with a fever, though. This could be tonsil/throat related. Seems like the primary symptom of a sv is v'g. If he has not v'd yet, hopefully that is good news.

I'm sorry to hear he isn't feeling well. Maybe the tonsilitis has come back or maybe it is just a viral infection. Either way I think you should contact his doctor just to be certain. I hope he feels better soon--you've had a lot going on with your children lately! Hope things get better for you guys!

My hubby is taking him to the doctor, I have to take our oldest to the orthopedic doc this afternoon. My son hasnt v'd ........... yet. Last time when he started out with these same symptoms, he didnt v* til the middle of the afternoon. He is sleeping now. We shall see what the day brings ..............

I did try to look at his throat, of course, he wouldnt let me get too good of a look, but there were these little red spots close to the back, is that normal? I guess I am just trying to think that this is anything but an sv.

It sounds like it would be tonislitis to me, bumps at the back of the throat usually indicates that...I guess tonsilitis is like chickenpox of the tonsils or something....if thats not a stupid analogy (which it probably is!)

Well, he just v'd. He is doing just like he did a month or so ago when he was sick. I just hope that this isnt a sv. Please God no. I dont know if its an sv, the fever that did it, or what. Hubby was all up in his face comforting him, ect when he was v'ing and after he finished, so now I gotta worry about him too. Geez ...........

I will let you guys know something when we get back home.

Thank you all for being here!!!!

How old is your son, Jennyleigh? It doesn't sound like a sv since it took so long for him to *v*. Please let us know what the doctor says.

The red spots in the back of the throat are telling of strep
throat. My son had it in June. He complained of a sore
throat only with no other symptoms. To rule out strep, I took him
to the pediatrician. The first thing the doctor asked him was if
he felt like throwing up? I was shocked and asked her why she
asked him that. She said the main symptom, other than sore throat for
little kids when they get strep, is v*****. He did have strep and
did not v*** but that is because I zoomed him over to the doctor pretty
quickly and got the "pink stuff" (antibiotics) very quickly. Once
she mentioned the V-word, I checked out and got to the pharmacy in
lightening speed time.

I hope your son feels better soon.

Boy, strep is going around in our area too, in the summer, I guess I wouldn't expect it. Hope he feels better and that it isn't a sv.

Well, he went to the doctor and the doctor couldnt find anything wrong with him. She said his ears and lungs are clear, she didnt see any drainage, nor did his throat show any symptoms of strep, ect ........ So, she ordered a CBC. She said that when something bacterial is going on that it would be elavated, hence the v'ing might be a early sign of something else going on. Like strep, ect ..... His CBC was elavated, but right there on the borderline, so she just wants to keep a watch on him. She said that what happened today could just be the beginning of something, or gastoenteritis, or gastritis. Not that I want him to be sick with anything, but Id rather it be something other than a sv. Now I have my other two children to worry about, not to metion my hubby who was in very close contact with him today.

Im sorry I didnt get back on here earlier today and let you guys know what was going on, but I went to my aunts house for a little while. I had to escape for a little bit, I know that must sound bad, but it was my way of dealing today.

I forgot to metion that he has diarrhea now.

Awwww...I hope things are ok. I remember when you mentioned your son being sick last time. It sounds to me like it is some sort of infection. I know sometimes when my kids get a high fever, they vomit. Keep us posted! Take care! Charlotte

The borderline CBC would have me doing the "wait and see" game.
Often times things are brewing at that point, meaning the count is not
elevated yet but its getting there. The only thing you can do is
keep him hydrated with a watchful eye over him.

My son is feeling better, but he does have diarrhea. He has pooped several times today, but he is eating a drinking. I just hope and pray that my girls dont get it. I am especially anxious because my hubby has to work tonight thru Sat. night. So I will be here alone with them. I could go to my in-laws and visit with them, but I hate to do that because my ma in law is keeping my 4 month old niece some, and I dont want to expose her. I dont know what to do, I hate this.

I am so sorry for you, Jennyleigh. If it's any comfort, my experience has been that you can prevent the spread to other family members by way of careful handwashing and by keeping the healthy and sick children apart for a few days. I literally keep my kids at opposite ends of the house. Kind of silly, but I have a limited ability to cope with this. Please let us know how you are doing.

So far so good, I talked to my mother in law and she said come on up to the house and stay with us some. She said its not like my children are going to be all up in the babies face anyway, and she is in daycare, so its not like she isnt exposed to stuff anyway. My son isnt running fever anymore, so according to our doctor, he isnt contagious anymore when the fever stops. My hubby, who was in close contact with him yesterday is feeling fine too, so I am trying to take that as a good sign. We shall see.
