I have no idea if it's allergies or if I've caught some cold virus, but it feels like crap. My sinuses are draining, so my throat is killing me and it's very thick in there. I just popped myself some popcorn and got some ginger ale to drink (I was going to sit down and enjoy a movie while I waited for the fiance to get home from work), but now I am feeling really nausiated from the draining.. So bad that my salavary glands have kicked in and I just about panicked.

I am always confused when I get sick feeling from sinus stuff because on one hand I feel like I should get some food in there because of all the other yuk draining there and on the other hand, who feels like eating when they feel like this... Maybe some crackers and cheese instead of popcorn???

Does anyone else get sick like this from sinus stuff? I know it used to make my dad you know what a lot of mornings before he'd go to work. I take hardcore allergy meds and cannot have anymore decongestant on top of what is in there, but I would really like to take more.. I've gargled with salt water, taken my allergy meds, used my astilin (nasal spray), done a sinus rinse.. Maybe I should steam?? I just freaking hate feeling all crappy like this.

Anyway.. I know that was long, but thanks for listening. I mainly just wanted to stop myself from panicking a few minutes ago, so I decided to type.. and so far it worked. But, any sinus sufferers who have advice, I would love to hear it!

I know how you feel about the should I eat or not? debate. I do that everytime. I would try something mild like the crackers and cheese and that might help you move up to the popcorn. Steam could be a good thing, as long as it all runs back out your nose and not down your throat. Sounds kind of gross, huh?

I have heard that allergy stuff is really bad right now (at least where I live). Mine seem to hit at odd times like when it starts to get cold.

My sister had the same problem as your dad - she woke up almost every morning one summer and v* mucous. She was young though, and luckily she grew out of it. Don't worry - you will be fine. Get something in your stomach and try to relax. Keep your headpropped up some if you lay down (or when you go to bed). It will keep all of that muck moving and not just sitting in your throat/stomach.

    Feel better!

When my sinuses are draining like that, for me, I feel better if I do keep a little something on my stomach. Also, I like to eat pepermint when I feel like that. It helps me. I do worry that I will v* from it, so I usually sleep propped up on a bunch of pillows. When I was younger, I would get sick from it, but I always felt so much better after it happened, and it wasnt like having an sv or something. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I know its rough.

Popcorn is great for an upset stomach. It is a whole grain, like bread, so it's pretty good. Plus it has salt. Salt is very healing.

    Hope you feel better soon!!

If you feel up to it try drinking a cup of hot cofeee or tea, that will help to thin the drainage, and will also help soothe your throat, this always works for me. You may want to get an over the couter decongestant to help dry it up.

I feel your pain, I've had a cold the past few days. Blah! I agree that eating a little something like crackers every once in a while will help to prevent nausea.I always keep something in my stomach so that I don't get nauseous. I figure it will "absorb" any yucko drainage etc. Also stay away (as much as possible) from dairy, it only worsens the "thickness". Don't get me wrong I've been havign cheese on my sandwiches and milk in my coffee but I've been keeping away from ice cream and such. I hope you feel better soon! Thanks everyone. I'm being a pretty big baby about this. I haven't felt this s***ty in a long time. Now my tummy hurts, but I think it could be from all the meds and vitamins I'm taking. Has anyone ever had surgery on their sinuses here? I'm really considering it. I have to take prescription decongestants every freaking day, and I swear the drainage contributes to most of my nausea and tummy aches... Although surgery=scary, too. Hmmm.. I'm going to go back to bed and stop thinking so much about it.

YEs shiva draining the sinus is extremely naseauting, all that mucus is basically going down your throat and into your stomach if your not blowing your nose constantly. You will not get sick, but it does make me a little queasy...! My best advise: BLOW BLOW BLOW !!! (your nose) haha
