New and Need Help Please!!!

[img]smileys/smilies_06.gif[/img]I've had this dreaded phobia for years but today I just can't get something out of my head. How do you pass a stomach bug? I was at the store and found out after I had already begun my purchase that the lady behind the counter had been throwing up for two days!!!! Can I catch it just being over the counter from her?? Is it airborne? Or something like that do you have to make direct contact with germs? It's freaking me OUT!

Hey, welcome to the site! From what I understand both from this site and other websites a stomach bug is not airborn except while the person is actually being ill. So if you were there while she was being sick then yes you could have gotten it. Also if people don't use proper hygeine after using the restroom and then handle food or soemthing you touch and then if you didn't wash your hands. Basically if you wash your hands thoroughly before putting them in or near your eyes, nose or mouth or on anything going in your mouth and you weren't there when she was ill than you should be fine. I put GermX on my debit card, all the stuff I bought and my hands twice after I left. No, she wasn't being sick when I was in there.

you should be fine then. It sounds like you went above and beyond in sanatizing. Plus you never know maybe she didn't have a virus maybe she's pregnant or had food poisoning or soemthing non contagious to start w/. Hope your'e feeling better about it.

No, her neice had been sick on Monday so she caught it from her. That's why I was freaking out. Now, I just hope I used enough GermX. This can really make you crazy.
