Stomach bug contagious through saliva/sexual activity?

Hi Everyone,

I'm definitely an emetophobe, so I was really glad to find this forum because I'm having a bit of a panic attack right now.

A girl I'm seeing had some sort of stomach bug last Thursday. I don't know what kind it was, but she got sick late Thursday afternoon and seemed fine by Friday, so it was relatively minor. We both live on college campuses and she said everyone was getting this on hers. I canceled plans to see her over the weekend, but now we have plans to meet tomorrow (Friday night) and I'm wondering whether enough time has passed for her not to be contagious.

So basically, here's my question: If she hasn't vommited since last Thursday (or Friday morning at the latest), would she be contagious still after seven or eight days? I assume she's fine to be around in general, but she's been hinting that she wants to have sex, so I'm wondering specifically whether the germs could still be present in her saliva after a week? Does anybody know if there is research on that? I know that these viruses need to be ingested orally to spread so the thought of kissing is freaking me out a little.

I saw a website called StopTheStomachFlu.com, which strongly suggested waiting at least three weeks to be around a contagious person, but that seems excessive to me. I really like this girl, so I don't want to cause relationship problems by cancelling plans or shying away from physical contact if I don't need to.

I think that site is more emetophobic than us haha it goes to the extremes, which is great, but i think a bit too far - I was staying in bed and kissed my ex who had noro that morning and I was fine... so yep - youll be ok, i think its all down to hit and miss but even if youd seen her the day after , i think you would have been ok.... one week if definitely enough but if it keeps you up , give it another 3 days?

I hope this isnt worrying you too much - Im sure shes very hygeinic!

I am in a small acting troupe and last Thursday night one of my cast mates was recovering from an sb. She was sick on Tuesday and Wednesday. Of course this sent me into a complete tail spin. Anyway during the show two of the men in the show had to kiss her. One was a very long passionate kiss. We all got together last night to perform again and I asked if either had come down with the bug and they were both fine. I think you'll be okay. The only thing I suggest is if you do like this girl for more than a bump and run, you'll have to let her in on the phobia. If she is going to be part of your life, emetophobic will be part of hers.
