Default Did i do enough to avoid it?

My colleague called in sick yesterday saying she felt "squirly" and apparently spent Wednesday night and yesterday v*ing. She came in today stating that she literally couldn't afford another day off and so she sat at her desk occasionally visiting the office toilets. I impressively managed to dodge the main toilets and used the downstairs ones but stupidily went to the main ones to see if I looked ok(I'm sort of crushing heavily on a guy I work with and have become paranoid haha!) And though I didn't go to the cubicles I touched the door handle and I did use my noro effective gel but I'm aware the germs were still active... What are the chances?

    Hi thecheesecake,

Please try not to worry yourself too much. The chances are very, very slim that you'll get sick yourself. You did use a preventative measure after touching the handle which is a huge part of the battle! Having only touched one surface she did, you didn't expose yourself to a huge amount of potential virus. And, she probably gave her hands a very good wash after using the bathroom, so that will reduce your chances even more.

Think about all the times we walk around touching things by people who may or may not be ill, and we don't become ill ourselves. This is that same kind of thing. Just because you know she happened to be ill doesn't mean you'll automatically get it. Does that make sense? I know it's hard to remind ourselves of that; I'm bad at it for sure. But like I said, you used your gel, and I'm sure she washes her hands, so there's very, very little risk.

Thanks so much for your response BBopper!! That's what my mindset says but then it gets me thinking how she would have picked up the bug..If it was a bug... I saw her at 9am on Friday and it's now Sunday so hoping I'm in the clear ;/

Thanks so so much for this!
