    Default Need advice

I hung out with my girlfriend yesterday and her sister was sick from oysters she ate 2 nights ago. I ate corn dogs wich were microwaved and that's it. Everything was sprayed down with Lysol and the sister stayed in her room once except to see her mom once upstairs. This morning my gf got sick and threw up. I'm now worried I could be infected and am very anxious.

Just keep up with your hygiene, and don't eat foods prepared by them for now. Do you know for sure that it was the oysters that made sister ill?

Ya there was no one else sick and the sisters bf also fell ill at the same time. Do you think my chances of not getting sick are pretty good?

Yeah. I think it's not likely you'll get sick. You were only there to visit, and not while someone was actively ill...

    Still doing good bbbalke?

If someone is sick with food poisoning, it's not the same risk as someone who has a contagious norovirus or anything like that. While e.coli and salmonella can be transmitted through feces from someone who's had food poisoning, as long as you wash your hands regularly, before eating or touching your face, and for as long as it takes to sing Happy Birthday to yourself, you'll be ok. They may have gotten sick from something other than oysters that your sister also ate, rather than her being sick from something contagious.

    Be well,

    Elizabeth
