Is anyone on here vegan? I've been vegetarian ever since I found out beef/poultry could have salmonella, E. coli, etc. and vegan since the chipotle outbreak.

Yes, I'm vegan.
Have you found this phobia a little easier to manage being vegan? Sometimes I'm afraid to eat produce I don't steam like salads or sprouts because they could be contaminated... :/ ugh
I started vegan a few months ago
being vegan probably won't decrease chances food borne illness being that it can be on veggies, fruits and basically anything that isn't prepared correctly. but if done right it van be great for your health and body which i am sure would help anxiety
It has helped me tremendously because I don't worry about cross-contamination so much anymore. I prepare most of my food myself at home so being vegan gives me full control - or as much control as anyone can have. I wash everything very well, especially fruits and veggies I'll be eating raw - like salads - even those I'll peel like melons or bananas. When I eat out, if I'm not sure about the place, I won't order anything raw like a salad, instead I'll stick to cooked food.
I don't know that vegan is safer but it sure makes me feel safer because I feel more in control. Maybe it's just a psychological game I play with myself. Whatever. It works for me.
Yep, been vegan for 21 years
I am not formally vegan, but I eat about a 90% plant-based diet. I do consume honey, and occasionally turkey jerky for protein.
It can help if you have inflammation or digestive issues (like bloating or constipation).
It is still possible to get ill from produce that hasn't been washed properly (most commerically sold produce is washed with chlorine after farming- at least on most large corporate farms) or cross-contamination. Obviously, produce doesn't spoil quite like meat or dairy if it's outside of a fridge.
