I drank some coffee this morning and I haven't had it in about a week
since I quit smoking and I knew it would affect me differently...

...What I didn't expect was that it would make me completely n* and here
I am at work and I've taken Rolaids and Maalox and it's not helping.
Does anyone know how to neutralize the acids in coffee?Help please!

It could be the caffeine in the coffee that is making you feel sick. I cannot
drink coffee or caffeinated drinks because it makes me feel nauseated. With
you stopping the smoking (which is also a stimulant) your body may be
    processing the caffeine differently...

It probably is the caffiene making you feel panicy. Just try to walk around for a few minutes and let some of that adrenaline burn off.

caffeine is definitely an aggravator in anxiety. Maybe try decaf... I've heard that coffee has a lot of alcoloids that can make your tummy upset also..

Drink lots of water to help flush out the acid in your stomach and reduce the amount of caffeine in your system. How are you feeling now?

I'd heard that coffee is a natural laxative, so it would possibly cause
tummy probs. I for one can testify that once I've had me morning
cup of coffee after breakfast, its knocking at my knickers before I
can even get upstairs!!!! (sorry for the mental image!!)

Coffee is a natural laxative due to its stimulant properties, as is smoking.
Decaf coffee can cause the same problems because it still has a fairly
significant amount of caffeine in it... just less than a reg cup of coffee...

If the acid really is the problem, a the tums should have helped.

I had no idea... I've pretty much stopped drinking coffee anyways.. I find that it bothers my stomach. So I drink Camomile teas and other decaf teas; I've found that I havne't had a problem. So maybe it? It's just coffee in general and not caffeine.. at least for me

I would recommend not drinking coffee except on special occasions. It's
not that great for you and stains thy teeth, etc. Don't trade one bad
    habit for another.

I don't drink coffee but I do drink a lot of soda. Lots of Cherry coke for me. Coffee has always upset my stomach. I remember this one time I was at school and I drank half of a cup of coffee and I felt SO SICK...I haven't drank coffee since then. But congrats on quitting smoking, I wish I could follow in your footsteps on that one.

Oh my God thank you guys.Just knowing that it is probably the anxiety
from the stimulant and not the acid doing tricks makes me feel so much
    better.

I quit smoking by setting a quit date, cutting out the first cig of the day,
then increasing the wait for the first one until I was only smoking from
6pm-10 pm, while also gradually stepping down the nicotine levels using
Quest brand (low nicotine, extra low nicotine, and even no nicotine).I
also knew the guy I was seeing would not want to get serious with me
unless I quit, which really really helps on the follow-through.Now I
know if I have just one puff it will be like choosing cigarettes over him..
    how crazy.
