Default There are some who truly care

I had a wonderful experience with my boyfriend last night which really made me realize that everyone can find someone who will understand their emet. I thought I would share it here so as to give people some hope :-)

My boyfriend and I have been together for over 2 years (I know- at 18 that is crazy! but he is wonderful) and he has known about my emet since before then. I have always been afraid of relationships because I thought they might not understand. I had a previous relationship where my bf would see that people had gotten s* in rooms and not even tell me before we entered, even though he knew about my fear.

Yesterday my bf and I went out to a wonderful dinner at a great restaurant that is near our favorite music and games store (Bull Moose, check it out if you live in new England!). It is a quick walk from one to the other. On the way there my boyfriend pointed out this neat bush to me on the way to the store, and then we entered.

That night he revealed to me that someone had v*ted on the street near the path and he showed me the bush to make sure I would not see it. After crying for a little but out of shock, I was so very grateful that he went out of his way to make sure I did not see it. This has happened before, but he did it so casually and sneaky this time that I was not scared at all and prevented ruining a wonderful night.

To show even MORE what a great bf he is, he told me that if we ever stuck together after college and had children he would always clean up any messses of s* they made.

So yeah, there are wonderful loving people who understand our plight. Hope this inspired some of you to reach out to more people for relationships.

It sounds like you have a very sweet boyfriend!! It's so helpful when the significant other understands and cares for you like that

I help a girlfriend with this myself. I know one thing that really important is to let your significant other know how you want them to help. At first I used to try to squeeze her hand and be close when she was confronted with a situation involving v*, but over time have realized it is better to give her a little space, as sometimes being crowded adds to her fear. People are out there that can care for you, make sure you communicate so they can!

Good for you! I've been with my boyfriend since I was 16 also. We've been together for 5 and a half years now.. He understands that I have such a strong fear, but still kinda thinks its weird. BUT he agrees to wash his hands and use hand sanitizer when I he knows my anxiety will go down if he does! I guess my fear is gotten as strong as that, I don't want HIM to get sick. I guess so that I don't catch it from him.. But he also seriously wants to do that "drink a gallon of milk in an hour" Usually everyone gets sick, but thats the point, Just to prove that he can do it without getting sick.
We argue about it so bad whenever he brings it up. I don't want to be there and I dont want to know that hes even going to do it. But he knows it really bothers me, so I don't think he will do it.. Just still comes up every once in awhile and causes me to get really angry!

You're so lucky! I've been with my boyfriend for almost two years now aswell, and I think it frustrates him because he doesn't really know how to handle situations involving s*. I've tried to talk him into looking on these websites and he's come with me to see my psychologist, but I know that it's hard for him to understand. He's also told me to "stop being so stupid" before, when his sister said that she felt s*, which I was very angry about, but at least it made him realise..

aww. . poor hun, thats a tough thing especially if it causes fights. If he REALLY wants to do it just tell him to do it with some of his friends in another house or building far away from you and dont see him that night. In the end if he really wants to do it he will, but if hes not with you it wont bother you as much :-)

I don't understand why people want to do that gallon of milk challenge. It's guaranteed to make you v*. I don't know anyone who has tried it that hasn't v*ed. What's the point? Ugh. If my fiance wanted to do it, I would let her but , as it has been said, she would have to be WAY FAR AWAY from here before doing it LoL!

He is thoroughly CONVINCED that he can do it. Thats what causes us to argue about it because I say UH no, the point is you V*. and people seem to think its funny. So we just go back and forth saying yes you will - no I won't. But yeah, I just don't even want to know that he is going to do it. Even if he is far far away, I just don't want to know it's even happening. I just know that later on in the day or night, he will be so sick all day! How could you drink a gallon of milk in an hour.. even if you do V* and not feel like crap the rest of the day?! Its just ridiculous..

On one of the early eps of Tosh.0, Daniel did the gallon milk challenge with another dude, and lets just say it got so graphic I had to change the channel! I think the worst part was they were v*ing on the floor in a kitchen! Like not even bothering to go to a toilet or trashcan. I was like WTF? At least GO somewhere where it's not all on the floor! What is wrong with people?

Its always difficult to understand how non-emets live. It took me a long time but v*ing on TV no longer bothers me, but when I watch jackass (which i mostly enjoy. . total guilty pleasure) I STILL cant handle their v*ing scenes, mostly just because they usually make themselves v*. Crazy dudes.

Yeah I can watch v*ing on ER, sometimes on House, on Survivor and other reality shows...but there was a movie, Trick R' Treat where they had some v*ing in the beginning...that was so long and drawn out and graphic! I had to fast forward right past that scene. I think it also bothered me cause ****GRAPHIC LANGUAGE COMINGS**** he was v*ing up chocolate and I once v*ed up chocolate from eating too much of it. LoL!

Jackass- I cannot stand their V* scenes. Now that I think about it, I think it was the movie Big with Tom hanks where I first freaked out from V* in a movie.

I was a kid when I saw that scene.. I think it was that movie.. Where they go on a ride at the fair and it makes them sick just before he finds the fortune teller machine.

Not to sound like a know-it-all but there is no vomiting in Big. I have seen it a million times. The scene is , they are standing in line to go on the ride and 'little Tom Hanks' is too short to go on the ride. So he is all said that he was too small he finds the fortune teller machine and wishes he was 'BIG'. I LOVVVVEEEE that movie. Later in the movie they make fake vomit noises and shot silly string at each other.

I wanna watch it now!!!

Hey i'm definitely the same way with my bf! I will make him wash his hands before eating hah. I also usually take over when he's cooking in the kitchen .. so I have that control of knowing I won't get sick from the food.

I usually keep a watchful eye and kind of nag at him about cooking things right and washing hands and areas of where raw meat was. He's usually good about it and he knows it bugs me really bad, but I sound kind of annoying to him when I make a big deal out of nothing!
