The "pot" discussion really made me realize how many people really do focus on laws as being instrinsically "right", and having society's interest in mind. I couldn't help but laugh when I got this link via email:
http://www.sodomylaws.org/usa/alabama/alnews034.htm
Although this is a year old, I can only assume that the ban still holds, as I have googled it an found no evidence that it was overturned, or ifthe challenge to it was successful.
So....if you sell sex toys in Alabama, it is punishable by a fine of up to 10,000$ and a year in prison. How crazy is that?
According to this, the sale of sex toys are also banned in Georgia, Mississippi, Indiana, Texas, Louisiana, and Virginia.
I am so glad that there aren't any similar laws where I live.....like Charleston Heston, they would have to pry my sex toys from my cold, dead hands, lol.

hey amber......i live in Alabama and there are all kinds of sex shops that sell stuff here.....i've personally don't go there, but i know they are advertised all over the place.....just thought i'd throw that in :)

Ok, so you can have a legal weapon that is intended for harm and could kill someone, but you can't have a device that brings you pleasure?
That's SO ridiculous.
Just like the adding thebanning of gay marriages to the ammendment.

hmm.. kinda like how fellatio is illegal.. BUUUUTT it's not like you're gonna have a cop peeping in your bedroom window at night ( i hope ) your car--- on the other hand--- well that's not a guarantee

Hahaha- actually, most of the sodomy laws were struck down in 2003 when a texas couple who were arrested and charged with having gay sex appealed the law and won- thus making all sodomy laws in the US unconstitutional and unenforcable when applied in a non-commercial setting by consenting adults in private (try to say that all in one breath). Oral sex apparently is covered under this.
That is why using a sex toy is still legal- however, SELLING these products are apparently illegal. I'm guessing that is it enforced a lot more than those other laws which were since deemed unconstitutional, as this law only came into affect in 1998, and a decision made in 2004 upheld it. It's also a lot easier to police sex stores than it is to police people in their homes (ya know, as long as they don't get rowdy in their cars in a public area as Tayda mentioned, hehe)
Dita- I'm sure there are some "interesting" stores in your area, lol- but whether they are actually selling what can be considered "sex toys", and not just other stuff along the likes of pornography, body paint, lingerie, handcuffs, sex swings, whips (I can go on indefinitely here- let's just say that me and sex stores are well acquainted friends)- have yet to be seen.
Ahh....gotta love those contradictions!

LMAO! That's just funny. Sex toys make people happy, weapons kill people ... hmmm which is worse? I don't think I'd want to come across who ever made up this law. S/he would be an undersexed, armed person ... probably a little unstable LMAO! Thanks for the giggle. Edited by: SimplyMe

i have to also laugh at this...i cant believe some of the laws they have out there...im not too into the toys but im not going to say i havent experienced with them and let me tell ya it was some good times...but not be allowed them would be...well dumb!! i guess im never moving there LOL!!

That's just stupid that they would make selling sex toys illegal! What is wrong with using a toy to get you through on those lonely nights? I wonder if it's illegal to sell massaging shower heads LoL!! I'm not a stranger to sex shops either, I have my share of toys too...I'm glad that Ohio isn't ass backwards when it comes to toys or I don't know what I'd do!
