Sounds like conjunctivitis or something with the eye. Either way whatever you have sounds very respiratory related and you won't get ill from it at all.

That's horrible!, just keep your hand washing up and you will be fine, if it were a virus I highly doubt they would be feeling well enough to even turn up to work after that.
