Hi everyone! My name's Tiffani (long-time reader, first-time poster),

I'm having a bit of panic run through methis morning and I'll explain why:

Last night,a guy I workwith (and share keys and registers with) was complaining about being sick all night (yeah, the gross kind of sick). I made extra sure to Purell and wash my hands throughout the night, and at break, ate my burger with a fork (you know, just in case). Now, all would be fine and well, but in the middle of the night last night, I woke up and started (while half asleep) rubbing my eyes, which is a bad habitI'm tryingto stop myself from doing. My only concern is the dreaded soda bottle I brought home from work and kept drinking well into the night...I assume it's riddled with germs, and then I go and rub my eyes with said germy-hands from the soda bottle! Am I at risk here, or is it my panicky nature just taking it way too far?

if you kept your hands washed you should be ok. did you wash your hands before bed? You should be ok. Most emets are known for the compulsive hand washing and hand sanitizing. you should be good

wow katsamsmom, you posted so fast!

I did wash my hands a few times before bed, however, I always fall asleep watching TV in the living room....and sometime in the middle of the night I wander into the bedroom, haha....I actually took the bottle back to the bedroom with me, so I had touched it after washing my hands...and then I go and poke myself in the eyes soon after! My gf seems to think that this guy at work (we work at the same place) is TOTALLY the hand-washing type, and that if anything actually got on my soda bottle, it would have dried up or died or whatever it does by the time we got home...and I'm really wanting to believe that, seems logical...but us emets aren't satisfied until the ole microscope is pulled out, haha

So is this a safe assumption? I mean, I know this guy didn't touch my drink, however, we did have to share keys and whatnot...Edited by: tiff007

Someone with actual poop on their hands AND currently sick with a norovirus would have to have touched that bottle in order for it to be a danger to you. I've never heard of vorovirus being spread that way. Don't woryy - it's just anxiety you're experiencing, and as long as you keep your hands washed (ina reasonable way) you won't catch anything. Very seldom does anyone catch stuff from people at work anyway unless you're quite unclean around the washrooms.
