Hey, just wonderin does anybody else get a really tight feelin in their throat when they get anxious? I first noticed it about 2 years ago and i was terrified as i thought it ment i was gonna be ill. Also, if anybody does get it, how long do you have it for? If i get it i cant get rid of it, untill i go asleep, and then it comes back the next day.

What it feels like to me is that I cannot swallow. I have to
consciously try to swallow my own saliva, and when it doesn't go down
easily, I mistake it for nausea and instantly panic. It happens
to me fairly often. Every time I get nervous this throat
tightness happens, I'm not sure why. It lasts until I can relax
and get my mind off of thinking I'm going to v*-- sometimes a few
minutes and sometimes hours. I've posted about this before but not many
knew what i was tlaking abuot.

You think we're talking about the same thing?

yes, my throat tightens up too. Its such an awful feeling. I don't know why it happens. I guess when you panic, all your body gets tence, your muscles tighten up, and I guess thats why your throat does as well.

The lump in your throat that instantly make you fear your going to get sick...I get it all the time when I get scared, just take several deep breaths, try to focus on something else and I promise it will go away. It's one of the main signs of a panic attack.

Thanks for the replys! At least now i know that other people get it too and its not just me. unfortunately i seem to have it nearly all the time now, probably cause im thinkin of it too much. And i find it near impossible to swallow when i have it too. Its such a strange feeling, its hard to know how to describe it to people who dont have it, cause i remember going to the doctor with it and he wasnt sure what i was talking about
