    Default Questionnaire for Emetophobics:

    Questionnaire for the Emetophobe:

I didn't know how to post this as a poll, so I am posting this here in a (mostly) multiple choice format. I devised this mini Q/A in order to help me understand this phobia better:

Q1: What is it about V*ing that causes you the greatest distress?

    a) Being out of control of my body
    b) Feels foreign/don't know how to do it
    c) Afraid it could aspirate to my lungs
    d) The smell/sight/sensation of it
    e) Belief that I won't be prepared for it
    f) Embarrassment if in front of others
    g) None of the above

Q2: As an emetophobe, do you additionally suffer from any of the following?

    a) Irritable Bowel Syndrome
    b) Gastritis
    c) Generalized Anxiety Disorder
    d) Panic Disorder
    e) Depression
    f) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
    g) None of the above
    h) Some of the above (please specify)

Q3: If someone near you were V*ing due to non-contagious reasons (ie: morning sickness, drinking too much alcohol, etc), you would:

    a) Still be scared/panic/afraid since it's V
    b) Not be afraid/panic since it's not contagious
    c) Still be scared, but to a lesser extent since it's non-contagious
    d) None of the above (please explain)

Q4: The last time you V*ed was:

    a) Never V*ed in your life
    b) In the last year
    c) In the last 2-4 years
    d) In the last 6-10 years
    e) In the last 10-15 years
    f) In the last 15-20 years
    g) It's been over 20 years

Q5: Please state your age and the number of times you've contracted an SV in you life:

Thanks for your time. I am currently trying to wrap my head around conditions that seem to tend to co-exist with this phobia, as well as other elements that seem consistent with emets.

    Q 1: Probably d mostly, but also a to a great extent.
Q 2: I have Bi-polar II, which does encompass anxiety, depression, and OCD tendencies.
Q 3: b. The only way this would bother me is if I had to be directly around the person while they v*
    Q 4: g.
Q 5: I'm 28. Since I haven't v*'d since I was 6, I have few recollections of how many sv's I had, let alone knowing whether they were sv's or not. The last time I got one was probably in highschool, and then it would be d*. I remember a particularly bad episode when I was 4, but not sure whether it was fp or sv.

    Both A and D, mostly A.

Q2: As an emetophobe, do you additionally suffer from any of the following?

I have panic disorder and depression, and possible Bipolar Disorder(which is where depression would fit in. I also might have a bit of OCD, but if I do it's very mild.

Q3: If someone near you were V*ing due to non-contagious reasons (ie: morning sickness, drinking too much alcohol, etc), you would:

    a) Still be scared/panic/afraid since it's V

Q4: The last time you V*ed was:

In the last 6-10 years. Specifically, it was Thursday, January 13th, 2005.

Q5: Please state your age and the number of times you've contracted an SV in you life:

I'm 15, and the only time I remember contracting an SV was the last time I v'd, when I was 7. Even then, I only v'd twice and I had no d, so I don't even know if that was an sv.

For me multiple choice is going to not work too good so I'll just answer them

Q1: What is it about V*ing that causes you the greatest distress?

I don't know.I can't be around sick people or be sick myself and the word causes panic. Even just seeing the abbreviation, V* makes me scared.

Q2: As an emetophobe, do you additionally suffer from any of the following?

Almost all of them. I have endometriosis though which can account for many of them.

Q3: If someone near you were V*ing due to non-contagious reasons (ie: morning sickness, drinking too much alcohol, etc), you would:

    PANIC.

Q4: The last time you V*ed was:

Last year at christmas. I got the flu. Before that it was 3 years.

    I'm 18. Number of times I have had a legit SV I don't know.

I don't think I suffer from any of those things... but I have never been to therapy so who knows... I suppose it is not out of the realm of possibility that I suffer from and anxiety or panic disorder and OCD doesn't sounds too far fetched either.

    b) In the last year.... it has been just a couple weeks over a year

Q5: Please state your age and the number of times you've contracted an SV in you life:

27 and 4 times... only once since being an adult the other three times were as a small child.
