The therapist I saw today wants to put me on medication. I am not afraid
of the side effects, but I really am not into taking meds. He wants to put
me on Zoloft and Niravam. I am torn what to do. I really wanted to find
an approach to tackling this without medication.

    Any feedback would be appreciated!

Ugh - Niravam is for emergency panic attacks, which I don't think I'll ever
need, I forgot the name of the other one. I'll write back after I pick it up
    at the pharmacy.

    Hi Lisa -

I think most therapists ideally don't want you on meds either, but I believe the reason they put you on them first thing is to help you quell your anxieties until the therapy begins to work. A therapist I saw a few years ago told me it is sometimes counterproductive to try to do therapy when you are anxious 24/7. The meds will help keep you calm and focused while you learn the skillls you need to cope, then when you go off meds you will be fine-tuned in your coping skills - that sounded a little redundant, LOL..
