I think the idea of past lives is more wishful thinking than anything else- if there are past lives, then there must be life after death.


I'm more of the K.I.S.S. school of though (Keep it Simple Stupid)- the most simple answer is usually the correct one (Occam's Razor). The idea that "souls" are reincarnated and people are reborn to me seems preposterous- too complicated and dependant on too many variables to be relevant.


I'm also skeptical on there even being some sort of life after death- I would like to believe it (because who wants their existance to burn out?), but rationally, I think that it is something created to make our relatively puny existance mean something. Let's face it- in the grand scheme of things our own singular lives mean relatively nothing in relation to the rest of the Universe.
