I am so very sorry to hear about this. As a cat owner, and cat lover, this breaks my heart to hear. This is why I let my cat stay indoors -she is a true "Scaredy cat" and is afraid of the outside. I also live in the city, so it is worse.

Oh that is so sad and I'm truly sorry. I know he will always have a special place in your heart.
aww I'm so sorry to hear! At least he's in Kitty Heaven, what your son said
I am so sorry about Toby...
dreamer, I'm so, so sorry about Toby =( Reading your post made me really sad, as I am such a cat lover! Not a day goes by when I don't dread losing my own 11 year old cat, Minnie. She's the love of my life, and I know its morbid to think about when she might go, but when she does, its going to break my heart like nothing ever has before.
It sounds like your Toby was much loved, and had a great life. I know its hard, but try this: everytime you find yourself reliving the moment you saw him on the road, replace it with a happy memory of him instead. I do this with my old dog, who passed away about 2 years ago, and it really does help
All the best. I hope you feel better soon.

awwwwwwwwwwww oh no!! i almost got teary eyed just reading that. :[ i
have two cats (not the ones in my picture though!!! heh) but they are my
kids!! and im the same way with them as i am with myself. if one of them
looks like they dont feel good, i freak out.
i am so sorry though about your kitty. when my first cat died (i had had
him for 14 years i think), i was to PEICES. but then a girlfriend of mine
sent me this and i hope it helps you too:
"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that
pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run
and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm
and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as
we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each
miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly
stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager
body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the
green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally
meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The
happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved
head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long
gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...."
