OT: would someone be willing to do me a favor?

Hey guys,
so I been seriously debating what I would like to have as a tattoo and I am now certain what I would like. I want two lines on the side of my ribcage. I am wondering if anyone who's fairly could at calligraphy would be willing to design it for me? I would truly appreciate it I am just not that creative, but I really want it to look nice! To add to that, those of you who have tattoos, did it really hurt? I have a pretty high threshold for physical pain but I feel like a rib tattoo might be pretty painful...

If you find the right tattoo artist they'll probably know better than anyone what would be legible and nice looking in the long term.

I have 9 tattoos. Some were more painful than others. The bigger and longer the tattoo takes to do the more it hurts. You will be fine. If it hurt that bad i wouldnt have 9! And im thinking about another! Definatly find a good tattoo artist. They will be able to do different styles of writing and you can pick what you like best. Thats what i did with my sons name on my shoulder. It came out beautiful.

I agree. I am almost completley covered with tattoos and the best advice I can give is to speak to a tattoo artist and have them design something for you.

I have a large piece on my back that was actually 2 separate tattoos made int 1. The pieces on my shoulders didn't hurt, but the middle of my back hurt like HELL!! I say go for it - it's worth it in the end.

As far as the artwork, I'm sorry but I can't help there.

i've got three.....all on my back....the one on my lower back was the most painful......but not bad enough for me to make the artist stop....lol

my friend has both sides of her ribcage completely covered......took several sittings and she said it hurt pretty bad.....think it really has something to do with how much "fat" there is where you get the tattoo....if that makes sense...

i've always had the tattoo artist draw my idea for me and i've always been happy......so that's always an option.

I've had two tattoos, the one on my shoulder felt more like rugburn than pain, and the one on the top of my foot hurt quite a lot. But it wasn't unbearable. It has to do with how much "padding" you have in the area and how many little bones are there. So, foot and ribcage aren't the most pleasant. If it's big they might have you do two sittings. I brought my friend with me and she told me stories and squeezed my hand when it really hurt!

What I've done often is design something, bring it to the tattoo artist, and have them tweak it or do their own take on it. Just remember that if you have the artist design for you, don't be afraid to be very clear about what you want and tell them if they design something that you're not into. They will redo it for you, it's a collaborative process! No point in having something on your body that you're not 100% satisfied with just because the tattoo artist is very gung-ho about it!

Thanks guys!! Another question....does my quote idea sound bad?! I really like those lyrics and it's empowering because I really have been through so much and I'm still here so it has a lot of meaning to me. I will definitely see calligraphy styles the tattoo artist can do but I'm definitely going to have to do some research in terms of where to go. I have three tattoos. Did they hurt? Not too bad. I wont claim that they were nothing, but it wasn't too bad. Kind of like a pinching tickling (if that makes sense) But, it also depends on where you get the tattoo. I have one on my ankle that wasnt bad at all, one on my lower back (yes, tramp stamp! Ick!) and one right bove my bikini line. The back hurt the worst, but still its wasnt too bad. However, I do think the ribcage is a sensitive area, but not totally sure, you may want to look into that. I do know that the top of foot and scalp is very sensitive though.

I don't even know how people deal with getting their scalp tattooed...lol

I have asked a fellow classmate of mine that I went to high school with because she got something on her ribcage. She said it was pretty painful because there's not much skin there but it was definitely worth it in the end. I think I'll just bring my boyfriend and squeeze his hand if it hurts! haha

any tattoo that means something to you is not a bad tattoo. i have 6 of them...2 of them in awfully painful places. they all mean something so special to me. im working on a half sleeve right now. i think you ribcage will prob hurt, please let me know....haha. cuz i want to get one there when im all done having babies to accentuate my stretch marks...i know sounds crazy, but like the tiger stripe thing. and id def make a prelim appt with the tattoo artist to have them draw it up, or they can have someone else do it...best of luck and i wanna see pics!!!!

i have one on the top of my foot...egh..pretty painful. the one on the back of my neck i think was the worst
