Unhappy Possible SV* Exposure, so scared!

Yesterday, my family was having an Easter Gathering. It was my parents, my sister, brother-in-law, niece, nephew, husband, and one of my stepdaughters. My sister's kids have terrible immune systems and always seem to be catching various illnesses that are going around. My niece had been down with the sv* a few days ago, but as of yesterday was fine so my sister brought both of her children to hunt eggs and eat. I had been keeping somewhat of a distance from the kids, out of paranoia and all was well, until my 2 year old nephew began complaining of a tummy ache...and then out of nowhere, he began to v*. Thank goodness, I did not actually see it, but I still got my anxiety kicked up in high gear and started freaking out about exposure. I took a paper towel and soaked it with antibacterial cleaner and used it to touch doorknobs and whatever else I had to come in contact with, which caused my family to keep looking at me sideways, of course and they made me feel as though I couldn't leave. I feel like I did a pretty good job avoiding a lot of the germs, but then right before everyone left, my nephew ran up and hugged me and got close to my face. I love my niece and nephew way, way too much to turn them down for hugs even with my phobia. I've washed my hands a million times, and can't stop being anxious. Now, I am in the waiting period...waiting to see if I contracted anything, I've been afraid every time I've had to go to the bathroom, I've been afraid that my husband is carrying the germs. I am even drinking grape juice. I am so stressed out! Is there anything else I can do to try to make it not happen? I have had panic attacks every time I've gotten the sv*. Before 2012, I had managed to avoid v* for literally 10 years, and that was pure luck.

I think you've done everything you can. as long as lil man was changed and cleaned up, I think you're fine. and if he was up and running after I bet it wasn't a crazy sv.

Thanks for the encouragement. It was odd how he was fine, then sick, then fine again, then sick again. He was cleaned up thoroughly though. I spoke with my sister this morning, and unfortunately she is having symptoms of sv* now, but she has been the one that has to had do all the cleaning and come into more direct contact. As of right now, I still feel okay and so does my husband, let's hope everyone gets better and that we stay well.

Update: My home has officially been hit by the sv*. My husband just began v* and though I feel okay right now! I'm quite anxious and panicky that I will be next. I am trying to disinfect things and stay away from the bathroom but at the same time I have to take care of him... (

Thank you for caring! I don't have a mask or gloves, but I have been using clean cloths to touch everything and spraying disinfectant. Toothbrushes have been moved as well. I sure hope he feels better and that I can make it through.

I am happy to report that I managed to make it through my husband's sickness episode unscathed. I am still taking extreme precautions just to ensure that I do not pick up on any lingering surface particles. He was very, very sick for several hours which caused 2 crying panic attacks for me, but he has not had anymore symptoms since Tuesday morning, and as of last night, I was able to begin letting my guard down on my worry that I may wake up in the middle of the night sick and I finally stopped sleeping with a trash can by my bed.
